Why Choose Ransley Turf Compost
Everything you need to feed the soil, not just the plants.
100% Peat-Free
Green compost is recycled and locally screened, so you improve your soil without taking peat from the bogs.
Better Soil Structure
Organic matter opens up heavy clay and helps light soils hold water and nutrients where the roots need them.
Loose or Bulk Bags
Order by the cubic metre loose for larger areas, or in bulk bags where access is tight and you'd rather move it bit by bit.

Compost, Manure or Growing Mix?
Each one does a different job in the garden.
Green Compost
A 100% recycled, peat-free soil improver that adds organic matter and nutrients while improving structure and water retention. Ideal dug into beds before planting, used as a mulch, or mixed into tired soil.
Well-Rotted Manure
Moist, well-rotted farmyard manure packed with slow-release natural nutrients. Dig it in during autumn or winter and let the worms work it through the soil before spring planting.
Raised Bed & Allotment Mix
A nutrient-rich, peat-free growing media that's ready to use straight from the bag. Perfect for filling raised beds, planters and allotment beds for maximum vegetable yields.
Loose or Bulk Bags?
Same compost, two ways to take it — plus collection if you'd rather collect.
Loose Loads
Tipped straight from the lorry, loose is the cheapest way to buy in volume and ideal for beds, borders and larger projects. Three cubic metres or more comes with a discounted delivered rate — you just need somewhere to tip it.
Bulk Bags
A cubic metre in a bulk bag is easier to move around the garden and keeps the load tidy where space is tight — perfect for topping up raised beds and planters a barrow at a time. Collection from our yard is available on both.
Getting Compost Right in 3 Steps
Volume, timing and digging in — that's the whole job.
Work Out Your Volume
Measure the length, width and depth you want to fill in metres, then multiply to get cubic metres. Our compost calculator does the sums for beds, borders and planters.
Pick the Right Time
Dig manure and green compost in during autumn or winter so it's broken down by spring. For raised beds, fill with the growing mix any time in the run-up to planting.
Apply and Dig In
Spread 5–10cm over the surface and fork it into the top layer, or top up beds to leave a 2–3cm gap below the rim. Mulch around established plants and water in after planting.
