Why Seasoned Beats Green Wood
Freshly felled wood is half water. You pay for that water twice — once when you buy it, and again burning it off up the chimney.
Burns Hotter
Properly seasoned wood gives up its heat to the room instead of wasting it boiling off water. Dry logs light faster and throw out far more warmth.
Less Smoke and Tar
Dry wood burns cleanly, so there's less smoke up the chimney and far less creosote building up in the flue — kinder to your stove and your neighbours.
Ready to Burn
Seasoned down to a low moisture content before it leaves us, so it can go straight from the bag to the fire. No weeks of drying in the garage.

Ready to Burn: in England, wood sold in volumes under two cubic metres must be certified as Ready to Burn, with a moisture content of 20% or less. Ask us for a price and availability on the sizes you need — logs move quickly through the winter.
Keeping Your Logs Dry
Good logs can be ruined in a fortnight by a bad stack. Three rules do most of the work.
Keep It Off the Ground
Stack on a pallet, a pallet collar or a couple of sacrificial rails. Ground contact is what draws damp up into the bottom of a stack.
Cover the Top, Not the Sides
A tarpaulin over the top keeps the rain off, but leave the sides open to the wind. Sealed on all sides, a stack simply sweats and goes mouldy.
Let the Air Through
Loose, airy stacks season better than tight ones. A log store with an open front and a sheltered back is ideal — sun and breeze do the work.
